Google presentation to local students

FIVE talented Northsiders were presented with framed copies of their entries to this year’s Doodle 4 Google competition at the internet giant’s Dublin offices last month. Paul O’Neill from Castleknock Community College, Emma Brady from St Michael’s Holy Faith, Finglas, Roisin Finnegan from Belgrove Senior Girls’ National School, Clontarf and students Robyn Coleman and Fiona Carroll from Santa Sabina Dominican College, Sutton, had all been invited to attend Google’s famous Dublin 4 based European headquarters for the final of the annual art contest. Ramp repairs sought as matter of urgency

FINGAL County Council has been urged to repair ramps on roads in a number of estates in Sutton as a matter of urgency.   Dublin North East TD Tommy Broughan (Lab) said residents of Sarto Park, Sarto Lawn, Verbena Avenue and Alden Park have contacted him to complain about the ramps. More...

Dublin MEP's fund plan wins support of colleagues

A proposal put forward by Dublin MEP Emer Costello for a new €3.5 billion fund to help the most deprived people in Europe has won the backing of a key committee within the European Parliament. The Employment and Social Affairs Committee has voted in favour of Ms Costello’s report, which recommends a specific fund to provide food and material aid such as ‘starter packs’ for the homeless to charities and NGOs in Ireland and across Europe.
